Canadian Amber Alert:
The Trustees of the Altaghat Project believe that the ideal resort in India should offer an opportunity to experience Indian culture. The idea here is not to park the tourists in just another hotel, but to offer a resort that mixes cultural activities with protection of endangered flora and fauna. The best way to accomplish this goal is to bring a variety of cultural activities to the proposed site, so that tourists and visitors can participate in a rewarding cultural experience, and see the spectacular flora and fauna for themselves.
Suggested activities include classes in classical Indian dance, such as Bharatya Natyam, spicy Indian cooking lessons, or fun workouts learning Kalaripayattu, a traditional martial art from Kerala. Other ideas include the opportunity for visitors to debate the nature of God with a Hindu philosopher, or to receive Ayurvedic medical treatments (ancient Indian naturopathy), or watch performances by local artists. The resort's concept is also an all-inclusive one. The resort will be staffed by women from the women's shelter so that they can learn new job skills and build their self confidence. The ladies will be able to participate in all cultural and recreational activities of the resort, and mingle freely, much the way staff at a Club Med facility may mingle.
